How to Use Data Source Settings#
The Data Source tab is the "brain" behind your dynamic notifications (like Recent Sales, Recent Leads, or Review counts). While the Design tab controls how your nudge looks, the Data Source tab tells TraceNudges exactly where to pull the live data from.Without a connected data source, dynamic nudges won't have any real names, locations, or purchases to display!1.
Navigate to the Data Source Tab: Open your nudge configuration and click on the Data Source tab at the top of the menu.
2.
Select an Existing Integration: If you have already connected tools to your TraceNudges account, they will appear in the list. Simply check the blue box next to the integration you want to use for this specific nudge (as shown in the image with "for purchase data").
3.
Verify Connection: Ensure the badge next to your selected integration says Connected in green. This means TraceNudges is successfully receiving live data.
4.
Search for Integrations: If you have many data sources connected, use the Search Integrations bar to quickly find the specific one you need.
How to Add a New Integration#
If you haven't connected your data source yet, or need to add a new one specifically for this campaign:1.
Click the purple + Add Integration button in the top right corner.
2.
This will typically redirect you to the main Integration setup page where you can connect third-party apps (like Shopify, Stripe, Zapier, Mailchimp, etc.) or set up a Custom Webhook.
3.
Once the new integration is set up, return to this Data Source tab and check the box to link it to your nudge.
Common Use Cases#
Here is how you might use different data sources depending on your goal:1. E-commerce Purchases (Recent Sales Nudge)#
You want to show a popup every time someone buys a product. You would connect your e-commerce platform (like Shopify or WooCommerce) or use a Custom Webhook (like the one shown in the image) tied to your checkout system. You check that box so the nudge knows to display those specific transaction details. You are collecting email addresses for a free webinar. You would connect your form builder (like Typeform, Google Forms, or your CRM) as a Data Source. The nudge will then automatically pull the first name and location of the people signing up to display as social proof.3. Multiple Data Sources#
You can often select multiple data sources for a single nudge! For example, if you sell products on both a main website and a separate landing page tool (like ClickFunnels), you can check both data sources so your Recent Sales nudge shows a combined feed of buyers from everywhere.
💡 Troubleshooting Pro Tip#
If your "Recent Sales" or "Recent Leads" nudge is showing up blank or displaying default/placeholder text on your live website, check this tab first! The most common mistake is forgetting to check the blue box next to your desired integration, or the integration status has disconnected.Modified at 2026-02-17 17:17:15
