While mobile traffic is crucial, desktop visitors often have higher conversion rates and larger screen real estate. The Display In Desktop settings allow you to control exactly how your social proof notifications appear for users browsing on computers or laptops, ensuring they catch the eye without obstructing important website content.Understanding the Settings#
Located under the Display Rules tab, this section gives you specific control over your desktop nudges.1. Enable Desktop Display (Toggle)#
This toggle allows you to turn the notification ON or OFF specifically for desktop devices, independently of your mobile settings.Turned ON (Purple): The nudge will appear to users on desktop computers and laptops.
Turned OFF (Gray): The nudge will be hidden from desktop users (but will still show on mobile if the mobile toggle is enabled).
Use Case: You might create a massive, detailed Announcement nudge that you only want desktop users to see because it contains a lot of text that would clutter a mobile screen.
2. Animation#
This dropdown controls the visual entrance effect of the notification on desktop screens. How it works: You can choose how the nudge grabs attention. Slide (as shown in the image) makes the notification smoothly slide in from the edge of the screen, while Fade makes it gently appear in place.
Best Practice: "Slide" is highly recommended for desktop. Because desktop screens are large, a sliding motion is excellent at catching the user's peripheral vision and drawing their eye to your social proof.
3. Position#
This dictates exactly which corner of the desktop screen the notification will dock into.Options: You typically have options like Left bottom, Right bottom, Left top, and Right top.
Recommendation: Left bottom is the industry standard for social proof notifications. Why? Because most websites have their live chat widgets (like Intercom, Zendesk, or Drift) or "Back to Top" buttons placed in the bottom right corner. Placing your nudges on the bottom left prevents them from overlapping with your other conversion tools.
Always remember to click the purple Update button at the bottom of this section to save your desktop configurations.
💡 Pro Tip for Desktop Nudges#
Always test your live website after publishing a nudge. Open your site on a desktop monitor and ensure the notification doesn't overlap with important floating elements like cookie consent banners, helpdesk widgets, or accessibility menus! Modified at 2026-02-17 17:14:40
