Understanding Data Timeframe Settings#
The Data Timeframe setting allows you to define the historical window from which TraceNudges pulls information to display. This ensures that your social proof—such as recent sales or signups—remains relevant and timely for your current visitors.1.
Locate the Setting: Navigate to the configuration panel for your specific nudge.
2.
Set the Value: Enter a numerical value in the Show data past field. For example, entering "30" will instruct the system to only look at events from the last 30 units of time.
3.
Choose the Unit: Select your preferred time increment from the Unit dropdown menu (e.g., Days, Hours).
4.
Save Changes: Click the purple Update button to apply the new timeframe to your nudge.
Why Use Data Timeframes?#
Setting a specific timeframe is critical for maintaining a "live" feel on your site. Here are the primary use cases:1. Highlighting Recent Popularity#
If you have a high-volume store, you may want to show sales from only the last 24 hours or 7 days. This creates a high-energy environment where visitors see that people are buying right now.2. Managing Seasonal or Flash Sales#
During a 48-hour flash sale, you can set the timeframe to 2 days. This ensures that visitors only see activity related to that specific sale, rather than older, irrelevant data from weeks prior.3. Boosting Proof for Low-Volume Sites#
If your site is new or has fewer daily transactions, you can extend the timeframe to 30 or 60 days. This allows you to accumulate enough data points to show a respectable "total buyers" or "recent signups" count, building trust even if activity is spread out.4. Maintaining Authenticity#
By limiting data to the recent past, you avoid showing "recent" sales that actually happened months ago. This keeps your brand transparent and prevents savvy visitors from feeling like the notifications are stale or faked.
💡 Pro Tip#
Check your dashboard analytics to see your average weekly conversion volume. Use that data to set a timeframe that ensures your nudges always have fresh activity to display without leaving long gaps of silence between notifications.Modified at 2026-02-17 17:21:05
