How to Use Timing Control Settings#
The Timing Control settings allow you to fine-tune exactly how long your notifications stay on the screen and how much time passes before the next one appears.Proper timing is the difference between a helpful nudge and an annoying pop-up. Use these settings to ensure your visitors have enough time to read your social proof without feeling overwhelmed.
Understanding the Settings#
Located under the Display Rules tab, this section contains three key controls:1. Display notification time#
This setting controls the duration that a single notification remains visible on the visitor's screen before it automatically disappears. How to use: Select a time from the dropdown menu (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc.).
Best Practice: For simple "Sales Count" nudges, 5–7 seconds is usually enough. For longer "Review" or "Testimonial" nudges that require reading, choose a longer duration like 10–15 seconds.
2. Apply fix delay time between two notification#
This setting controls the gap or interval between two consecutive notifications. Once the first notification disappears, this timer starts counting down before the second one slides in.Why it matters: If this is set to 0, notifications will flash one after another instantly, which looks spammy.
Recommendation: A delay of 3 to 8 seconds is standard. It gives the user a moment to breathe and focus back on your content before seeing the next proof point.
3. Randomize delay#
This toggle switch makes the "delay time" variable rather than a strict, robotic countdown. How it works: If your fixed delay is set to 5 seconds and you turn this ON, the system might wait 4 seconds one time and 7 seconds the next.
Use Case: Enable this to make your website activity feel more organic and natural, mimicking the unpredictability of real-time events.
💡 Pro Tips for Timing#
Don't Rush It: Visitors read slower than you think. It is better to have a notification stay on screen a little too long than to have it vanish before they can finish reading the 5-star review.
Space Them Out: If you have multiple nudges active (e.g., a "Sales Pop" AND a "Live Visitor Count"), ensure your delay times are long enough so they don't constantly fight for attention.
Click "Update": Always remember to click the purple Update button at the bottom of the section to save your timing changes.
